About JNVST
The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is conducted for admission to Class VI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across India. These are residential schools established to provide quality education to rural children.

Exam Pattern – Class VI

  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration: 2.5 hours
  • Mental Ability Test (MAT): 50 marks (40 questions × 1.25 marks)
  • Arithmetic Test: 25 marks (20 questions × 1.25 marks)
  • Language Test: 25 marks (20 questions × 1.25 marks)

Note: There is no negative marking.

Eligibility Criteria
Class VI:

  • Boys and girls
  • Age: 9 to 13 years as of 31 July of admission year
  • Candidates must have studied Class V or equivalent
  • Rural candidates get preference; urban candidates can apply only for 25% seats

Selection Process

  1. Written Test (JNVST)
  2. No interview or viva-voce

Reservation

  • Rural: 75% seats
  • Urban: 25% seats
  • SC: 15%, ST: 7.5%, OBC: 27% (as per government norms)
